Emmie Sorgen 7/2/11 - 9/23/24 Heather Sorgen and Emmie Sorgen 7/2/11 - 9/23/24 Heather Sorgen and I had the honor and privilege of adopting little miss Emmie from Homeward Pet Adoption Center in 2015. She was rescued at the last moment from the Everett Animal Shelter before being euthanized and brought to HPAC - two different families AND the director adopted and returned Emmie to the shelter. We were determined to show her the love, security, and support she needed and though we were told one family returning her said she was “nothing special” - we knew differently. It was initially very hard to gain Emmie’s trust. But - we didn’t give up. We gave her space, soft beds, companion pups who she took to right away - and lots and lots of treats. She was with us for almost a year before she started to come to us for pets, snuggles, and initiated affection. When she was a love 💕 bug she was full on love bug. Her whole life she remained very independent, sassy, and incredibly sweet. As with many Chihuahuas, Emmie struggled with some health issues and ultimately some of the hardest - congestive heart failure and kidney disease and then failure. We’d been managing well with medication, diet, and lots of loving care - until recently. Today we had to make the heartbreaking decision for compassionate and humane euthanasia. Knowing that her quality of life had diminished in such a quick period, her cognitive decline was swift, and that we had weeks left - we chose to lovingly and devastatingly choose to say goodbye today. Today’s loss was especially difficult but I take comfort in Emmie returning to her beloved brother Buddy, elder sister Mimi, and my Dad and Mom (Emmie was her favorite of our pups - they were both fiercely independent, opinionated, and loving - they understood one another). We love you and we miss your dearly already, sweet Emmie girl. May you breath easy, get all the head scritches, and have allllllllll the cheese 🧀 and burgers 🍔. Love, Your Moms Ps. A little last bit of relaxation and recuperation b A little last bit of relaxation and recuperation before we get going again! (My second concert in as many weeks - I loooove live music) We’ve been on a Strength Camp break this last two weeks and I used it to the fullest; doctors appointment, blood draw, physical therapy, massage - all the things I’ve fallen behind on, but are so important to keep up. I’ve also spent time with family, reading, moving slowly, working on projects, time with beloved friends, and got lots of dog snuggles and lots of nice long baths. But I’m back. I’m ready! Fall Strength Camp begins on Monday and runs through November 15th! I’m so excited, feeling refreshed, and I’m ready to go! Let’s do this!
Not aesthetic - just a small piece of our actual l Not aesthetic - just a small piece of our actual lives. We’ve been married for almost 14 years - together 16. Here’s a peek inside a healthy, balanced, stable relationship where we both deeply love and care about one another. My wife was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia - the symptoms have been choking and heartburn - but she also sometimes eats realllly fast - it doesn’t help. I saw the “eat your spouse’s pace” trend and thought it might be funny if she tried to match my pace - I am a notoriously SLOWWWWW eater. I’m so self conscious about it that I’m not one to have lunch out with friends - I don’t want to annoy them. I’ve always been this way. She did a good job for a bit and then I set her loose to resume her usual speed. You’ll see a big difference. While we are both at different ends of the spectrum - we try to meet in the middle and she’s had less issue due to slowing down - just not this slow! lol! How are you and your partner/spouse opposites?

Movement looks like lots of different things - but Movement looks like lots of different things - but I fear that the diet/fitness industrial complex really tries to define a “workout” as a certain thing. Specifically: A worn-out, no-energy-left, puddle-on-the-floor sort of situation. If you love the occasional sweaty puddle situation, same, I hear you. But we also need ease. Restful movement. Active recovery. Connection. Someone to listen to and support us. A personalized boost. I showed you a previous class that I taught that included dumbbells and compound movements and it’s just as important if not more important for me to share this type of movement as well. Movement isn’t “all or nothing” there’s soooooooo much area in the middle. Sometimes, rest is best. Sometimes we have the energy and want to push hard - but those are far ends of the spectrum. Most of the time we’ll land somewhere in the middle, we’ll adapt the movements to our energy level, we’ll listen to our body’s wisdom. And that’s part of what I love about movement. When you ditch the crappy cultures and complexes - it becomes what best serves you, and that’s forever changing, because we are forever changing. I believe in showing up and doing what I can, with what I have, when I have it. And if I don’t - I don’t. And that’s ok.
