I’m a small business owner, an entrepreneur, a c I’m a small business owner, an entrepreneur, a compassionate person who would honestly do anything I can for others - AND I also have a panic disorder and GAD. I recently went to the post office with 35 hand addressed envelopes and I felt like I wanted to dissolve into the floor like the wicked witch of the west. The DISCOMFORT. The feeling of all the eyes behind me burning hole into the back of my head, the discomfort. I had waited for a lull but once I got up to that counter - a long line formed behind me. I wanted to run to the back of the line. But the hero of the day, the incredible Juan of the Olympia USPS office was calm and kind and assured me “it’s your turn - let’s do this together”. I survived. Everything was mailed. Faith in humanity and USPS restored. I talked about the experience on FB later and little did I know how many experts I know in mailing alllll the things! Friends sent links for postal scales and thermal printers and helpful tips. I tried them all and yesterday - yesterday I could have skipped into the post office I was so excited! I walked in and OUT with a smile at a once arduous and terrifying process turned simple, easy, and pleasant.

Morals of this story for me:
1. Sometimes our suffering is unnecessary. We don’t have to do the hard thing to prove we are strong.
2. Talking about our struggles sometimes opens the door for support and help.
3. Our experience with the same scenario can change immensely, given the right tools, gear, or mindset.

What a difference!

Rest in peace, Mom. It’s so hard to lose you so Rest in peace, Mom. It’s so hard to lose you so close to losing Dad but I understand. I hope that you felt my support and love all the way to the end, to the last squeeze of your hand, until the last beat of your heart. The love and support don’t stop there though your physical presence is no longer here with us. I miss you so much. I don’t know where we go but I hope you are without pain, without suffering, and that your spirit is at peace at last.

I was so happy to go to Chicago and fulfill your dream of seeing everyone again - but so sad you couldn’t be there with me.
